About

The Industrial Revolution Four (IR4)

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, which provides tremendous scientific and technological potential, is currently the most powerful engine for creating changes and opportunities worldwide. It promotes change that will undoubtedly encompass all areas of economic and social life.

It also brings a torrent of opportunities and challenges that need to be seized upon and overcome. Out of the Sultanate’s firm belief in the necessity for a rapid response to the requirements of change, together with its desire for both positive and responsible engagement in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Oman’s Vision 2040 considers education to be a fundamental pillar to economic and social development, and as the main locomotive for achieving national competencies in both scientific and technological empowerment whilst also playing a central role in  building a knowledge-based economy.

In preparation for dealing with the requirements of this stage, higher educational institutions in the Sultanate must overcome challenges whilst laying down the necessary plans and foundations to respond to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and thereby achieve an effective contribution in sculpting its features and making use of its capabilities  in their academic programs and research projects.

Higher educational institutions should also establish various events including holding workshops, scientific meetings, and conferences that promote the concept of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its application in all fields. From this standpoint, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Ibra  is organizing  a conference entitled “IR4 Era”.

Goals of the Conference

  • Highlight the role of IR4 as a factor for the realization of Oman Vision 2040.
  • Envision the role of the higher education institutions in the IR4.
  • provide an interdisciplinary platform to discuss the most recent innovations and trends in the fields of IR4 by bring together academics, researchers, industry and other stakeholders.
  • Emphasize the role of IR4 on the development of various fields: education, information technology, business, engineering, healthcare and others.
  • Scrutinize the challenges that stand in the way of establishing successful executions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

About UTAS - Ibra
